ITINERARY

 

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ADDIS ABABA

Pick up from the airport and transfer to the mosaic hotel,  leaving some time to refresh and shower ,  The following activities are optional during our stay in the capital Addis Ababa.

Our City tour start at  9:30 am.  First we would be heading to TOMOCA, a very small, antique looking, coffee shop, which has been open since 1953 . the aroma of freshly roasting coffee will hit you before you enter.  From here we will proceed to national museum to get to know Lucy the first prehistoric human discovered in Ethiopia . Afterwords lunch at the famous LUCY restaurant.

After lunch our last visit of the day would be Holy Trinity Cathedral ,the second most important place of worship in Ethiopia,

Return Back to the hotel,

Day 2: ADDIS TO JINKA( BCO)

Pick you up from airport , transfer to hotel freshen up and go to south omo research center , Visiting the ethnological museum would give us brief preview of pornographical  information about verity of tribal groups residing in omo valley,  depending on our time we can also have an option  to visit the Ari village around our lodge

DAY 3: JINKA -TURMI  (130KM GRAVEL; 2HRS) 

after early break fast , we will have an 2hrs drive to turmi . Once we arrive in Turmi we will check in at our lodge , we will have  a full day to explore Trumi and around . we will head to  the largest hamar hamlet,  for todays photography and for more immersive experience of their daily lives. Hamer women have prominent cheekbones and wear heavy copper necklaces with intricate handmade beads. The Hamers are gregarious and easily engaged.

OVER NIGHT: BUSKA LODGE

Day 4: Turmi - Omorate - Turmi (all paved, gravel, 1:30hrs one way)

Departing Turmi at 5:00AM, we will be heading to Omorate, home of the Dassanach tribe who are said to be descendants of Bantu.Like many of these tribal groups they use chain links and other western ‘cast offs’ as decorative objects.  Crossing the newly constructed Omo River bridge and driving further for 20kms selang village    

We would photographing and participate in the Dimi ceremony, which is the biggest event in a man's life. Its purpose is to honor and bless the father's daughter for future marriage and conception. A man becomes an elder once he has gone through Dimi. To feast and dance, men and women dress spectacularly in animal fur capes, and the community elders bless the girl.   the ritual lasts about 2 hrs to day light, after wards we would be visiting and photographing dassanch village right nexet the ritual area or near by dassench village. We will photograph the women cooking by fire, grinding corn meal and the men with their flock.

DAY 5: Turmi - Karo Dus _TURMI  (75km gravelled 1;30 hrs)

This day, we will depart at 5:00 to kara dus, where we will  have a full day photography with with kara , we would be photographing the kara at three different location ( at dus village , at our camping site and at korcho village)

our camping team will be go in advance and prepare breakfast and lunch for today and dinner at the hotel.

The Kara tribe, which lives on the gorgeous Omo River banks, is renowned for their distinctive and stunning body chalk painting. Many Kara women have their lips pierced and have nails and pins inserted. Photographing on the Omo River's bank can yield iconic images. We will spend the best part of the day photographing people in the villages as they go about their daily activities, such as planting crops, herding cattle, and performing traditional tribal dances in the evening, with many opportunities for solo and group shots.

DAY 6: Turmi - ARBORE - Jinka  (180KM, GRAVELED , 5HRS)

An other early morning set off proceed further into the scenic Weito lowlands, we will be visiting an Arbore tribal village located at the northern edge of Mount Buska. The Arbore women are absolutely stunning, they have  extremely dark skin and strong features. Prior to marriage the women have their heads shaved.  They wear dark robes, colorful beads and their huts are fabricated from tree branches..

after photo session we will procced to jinka ,  en route stop in keyafer to photograph the extraordinary high stilt-walking Bede boys.

OVER NIGHt: ECO OMO JINKA

DAY 7: JINKA-MURSI-JINKA(120 KM GRAVEL; 4 HRS)   

The day starts  at 6:00 a.m. with a two-hour trip via gorgeous Mago National Park to see the legendary Mursi tribes, who reside spread along the Maki river to the Mago highlands. The Mursi are one of  indigenous ethnic group in Omo Valley. They inhabit in low-to-the-ground grass and leaf houses. Terra cotta jewelry looks great on women's enormously enlarged lower lips and ear lobes. Males are well-known for their hairstyles.

OVER NIGHt: ECO OMO JINKA

Day 8: Addis Ababa, International flight

after early breakfast transfer to Jinka (BCO)  airport for the morning flight that departs around 9:30  to ADDIS ABABA.  Arriving  in addis  ababa we will have a day stay at mosic hotel before we transfer to bole airport for your late night flight to your country.
